Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob is currently the Chairman of the Minority Shareholders Watchdog Group (MSWG), Malaysian Istitute of Economic Research (MIER) and Jambatan Kedua Sdn. Bhd. amongst others. He also serves as a member of the board of several institutions including Bank Negara Malaysia, Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) and Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGVH). He also teaches economics and public policy as an Adjunct Professor at University of Malaya, and Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR).
He is a former civil servant and had served the Malaysian Government for over 40 years. During the course of his civil service career, he served various ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, and the National Economic Action Council (NEAC). His last position was a Director General of the Economic Planning Unit (2006-2009) of the Prime Minister's Department. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Sulaiman had also served at the Institute of Integrity Malaysia (IIM), as its first founding President, and he was previously the Chairman of Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) until 28th May 2012.
Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr. Sulaiman had also served on the boards of Petronas, Companies Commission of Malaysia, Malaysia Insurance Deposit Corporation (PIDM) and MCMC. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr. Sulaiman is trained in economics, first at the University of Malaya, and then at University of London. He completed his Ph.D. studies at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University in USA in early 1986.
